Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha issued a stern warning to those attempting to mislead the Union Territory’s youth on Sunday, October 30, in a major rebuke to terror sympathisers. He also chastised the “selfish elements” who indirectly support terrorism and cast doubt on the Indian armed forces. It is also worth noting that the UT has been subjected to a string of targeted killings.

LG’s remarks came in response to controversial statements made by National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah, who claimed that targeted killings in the valley would not stop, while PDP president Mehbooba Mufti was left in the dark after a hybrid terrorist was killed in an anti-terror operation.

Last week, Sinha issued a warning to those attempting to jeopardise the valley’s communal harmony. LG Sinha stated at a public event that the administration is keeping a close eye on those who are attempting to incite communal violence in the Union Territory and defending terrorists for targeted killings of civilians for their own self-interest. “We are keeping an eye out for elements that are attempting to undermine communal harmony in the valley. Some people use self-interest to justify the killing of innocent citizens. If anyone jeopardises the integrity of the nation through their statements or actions, legal action will be taken against them “he added
