Telecom operator Bharti Airtel on Wednesday said that We are excited to announce the availability of Airtel 5G Plus in Jammu and Srinagar. Airtel customers can now enjoy ultrafast network speeds that are 20-30 times faster than current 4G speeds. We are currently lighting up the Union territories of J&K and Ladakh, allowing customers to enjoy superfast access to high-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, and instant photo uploading.

Customers with 5G-enabled devices will receive free access to Airtel’s ‘5G Plus’ network until the rollout is more widespread, according to the company.

Elsewhere in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (Pok) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB), efforts to launch 4G this year were thwarted by the Special Communications Organization, a Pakistan Military-backed Organisation in charge of providing telecom services in these two occupied areas, after cellular companies that participated in the auction of next-generation mobile services in these two occupied areas in 2021 still did not receive clearance from the Pakistani military.

Both occupied areas are still on 2g service, with pathetic connectivity that frequently has days of downtime. Pakistani media is unsure when 4G services will be available in these areas, as the Pakistani military is concerned that the unsavory realities of these areas will be revealed.
