India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant is back in the port-city of Kochi after concluding its 5-day Basic maiden sea trial phase. Performance and operational running of propulsion, power generation & distribution, and aux equipment were checked and monitored extensively in the last 5 days said Naval officials, and were found satisfactory.

With the initial phase of sea trials over, it will slowly move to a more intense phase of sea trials where the aircraft carrier will be put to its paces in a much harsher environment that reflects a real-time, at-sea threat environment.
INS Vikrant over the next one year will go into sea trials that will include certifying its flight deck, combat systems qualification trials and later embarking on the air wing trial, and many other tasks.
