A fierce gun battle unfolded on Tuesday morning in Manipur as part of ongoing efforts to restore normalcy in the region. Reports indicate that the exchange of fire occurred between the Indian Army’s 21 Para (SF) Special Forces and the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The incident took place near Rilram Centre and Khoibu Centre, located in Tengnoupal district near Lairam Phungka in Kamjong district.

During the intense firefight, four members of the 21 Para SF sustained bullet injuries and were swiftly evacuated for medical treatment via two helicopters. Authorities advised the villagers of Lairam Phungka to remain within their communities for their safety, highlighting the escalating conflict’s potential risks.

Witnesses reported the sighting of two helicopters heading towards Khoibu Centre around 10:45 AM, indicating possible involvement in the operation, according to media reports. However, the Machi Police Station has claimed that they have not received official reports regarding the gunfight between the 21 Para SF and the PLA.

Amidst the ongoing situation, essential supplies such as food, ration, and water were airlifted to support the security forces stationed in Manipur. These supplies were primarily intended for the Manipur Police Commando and paramilitary forces deployed in the region, ensuring their operational capabilities are sustained.
