The Directorate of Engineering (Helicopters) Western, under the Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhawan), has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) seeking aviation companies capable of repairing and recovering damaged AH-64E(I) Apache attack helicopters. This initiative is a significant step towards bolstering India’s self-reliance in military aviation maintenance and repair capabilities.
The EOI aims to identify companies with the requisite certifications, infrastructure, and experience to handle the intricate repair and recovery processes for the advanced AH-64E(I) Apaches. The initiative aligns with India’s broader vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), particularly in the defense sector.
Interested companies must demonstrate robust technical expertise, established partnerships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and adherence to stringent safety and quality standards.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, companies must meet the following requirements:
Compliance: Follow stringent safety and operational standards.
Certifications: Possess all necessary certifications for aviation maintenance and repair.
Infrastructure: Have the facilities and tools to repair complex systems in advanced attack helicopters.
OEM Affiliations: Maintain partnerships or affiliations with OEMs to ensure adherence to Apache-specific standards and procedures.
Experience: Demonstrate prior experience with repair and recovery of similar high-tech military platforms.
Financial Stability: Show evidence of financial capability to undertake and sustain large-scale defense projects.
This initiative underscores the Indian Air Force’s commitment to fostering indigenous capabilities in aviation maintenance and repair. By leveraging domestic expertise, the Air Force aims to minimize dependency on foreign entities while ensuring swift and effective repair of mission-critical platforms like the Apache helicopters.
The AH-64E Apache, known for its advanced combat capabilities, is a key asset in India’s defense arsenal. Ensuring the availability of repair and recovery solutions within the country will enhance operational readiness and reduce downtime in case of damage.
