The Indian Air Force (IAF) has taken a significant step towards fostering academic-defense collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the PES College of Engineering, Mandya, Karnataka. The partnership aims to leverage the combined expertise of the IAF’s Software Development Institute (SDI) and the college’s engineering research and development capabilities.
Under the terms of the MoU, the IAF and PES College will collaborate on developing innovative products and processes to address emerging technological challenges. The students will have the opportunity to contribute their skills and knowledge to real-world defense projects, gaining valuable hands-on experience.
In addition to joint research and development, the collaboration will also include tailored training programs designed to equip IAF personnel with the latest technological advancements. This will help the IAF to meet its evolving requirements and enhance its operational capabilities.
Air Vice Marshal K N Santosh, Commandant of the IAF’s Software Development Institute, emphasized the importance of this partnership. “Teaming with PESCE marks another significant milestone aimed at academic-defense engineering R&D collaboration,” he said. “Through this collaboration, SDI Air Force aims to provide an opportunity for interns to gain avionics software experience through hands-on projects, thereby facilitating students’ transition smoothly into high-demand job roles.”
The partnership between the IAF and PES College is expected to lead to significant advancements in defense technology and provide valuable opportunities for both students and IAF personnel.
