HTT 40 on Monday received its airworthiness clearance certificate from the Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification (CEMILAC). The project set a record as the fastest to reach certification from the first flight. HTT 40 is designed as per Preliminary Services Qualitative Requirements (PSQR) issued by the Indian Air Force (IAF) and FAR 23 certification standards.

The indigenous training aircraft HTT-40, designed and built by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) last August had completed spin certification flight testing. The State-run behemoth then had confirmed that it has already demonstrated ten turn spins and is ready for operational clearance.

The production will take place at HAL’s two manufacturing units at Bengaluru and Nashik. The RFP was for 70 aircraft with additional clauses for 38 more. The trainer will have more than 60 percent indigenous content
