INS Nilgiri – The first ship of the Project 17A stealth frigate class, Nilgiri, represents the latest in naval warfare technology with its advanced stealth features designed to minimize its radar cross-section, making it a formidable asset in modern naval combat. This frigate, named after the scenic Nilgiri Hills, underscores India’s commitment to enhancing its blue-water capabilities, equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry including the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile system.
INS Surat – As the fourth and concluding ship of the Project 15B stealth destroyer class, INS Surat will join the ranks of India’s most advanced destroyers. Named after the vibrant city of Surat, this destroyer is packed with cutting-edge technology, including long-range surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship missiles, and sophisticated radar systems. The commissioning of Surat will complete the quartet of Visakhapatnam-class destroyers, significantly boosting India’s naval defense capabilities.
INS Vaghsheer – The sixth and last submarine of the Scorpene-class under Project 75, INS Vaghsheer, adds to the underwater might of the Indian Navy. Named after the sand shark, this submarine is designed for stealth operations, equipped with advanced sonar systems and capable of launching a variety of torpedoes and missiles. The inclusion of Vaghsheer in the fleet marks the culmination of India’s efforts to bolster its submarine force, crucial for strategic deterrence in the Indian Ocean region.
