Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is gearing up to captivate audiences at the upcoming Aero India 2025 with the debut of scale models of their latest innovation, the CATS Warrior wingman. This event promises to shed light on one of India’s most ambitious projects in unmanned aerial combat technology.

The CATS (Combat Air Teaming System) Warrior is a 2-ton, twin-engine Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) designed to serve as a loyal wingman to manned fighter jets. With capabilities to conduct strikes and enhance the effectiveness of combat missions by supporting manned aircraft, the CATS Warrior represents a leap forward in aerial warfare technology. Its primary functions include.

Armed with air-to-air missiles, the CATS Warrior can engage aerial threats, thereby protecting or augmenting manned fighter aircraft during operations. As a High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) class UAV, it’s also equipped for extensive surveillance, offering critical real-time data to pilots and ground forces.

HAL has previously provided small glimpses of the CATS program, but Aero India 2025 marks a significant milestone where more detailed information about the CATS Warrior will be revealed. The scale models will not only showcase the design and potential configurations of this UCAV but also provide insights into its operational capabilities, integration with existing platforms, and future development plans.

While HAL has not disclosed the exact timeline for the CATS Warrior’s operational deployment, the showcase at Aero India 2025 is a clear indicator of progress and intent. The event will likely attract interest from international defense communities, potentially opening doors for collaboration or export opportunities. 700kg CATS Warrior is already under development this is upgraded variant of it.
