State-run aerospace behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) will deliver the first light utility helicopters (LUHs) that were manufactured using company funds under limited series production by August this year and another 3 by end of March 2023. Another eight LUHs will be built by 2023-24.

Out of the initial batch of four choppers, two each will go to the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force while the two forces will get four LUHs each from the second batch of the limited series production.

According to a report prepared by ” The Week”, LUH successfully carried out a cold soak test at Leh where it was supposed to be kept outside the hangar for 24 hours but due to bad weather it had to be kept out for 48 hours, and yet LUH successfully was able to cold start and performed 20 min flight as expected.

LUH also demonstrated 75kg payload carrying capabilities at such heights, making it first among in its class to perform 75kg payload carrying capabilities at such a ceiling.
