HAL in association with ADA has started manufacturing activities of Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) tweeted the Public sector company on its Twitter timeline. HAL will be manufacturing Two Next-Generation Technology Demonstrator (NGTD) aircraft by 2025-26 that will be used extensively for developmental flight trials of the aircraft.

The structure shown in the Picture seems to be the leading-edge flap, last year ADA had showcased a set of actuators, stabilizers, air brake servo control modules that were manufactured for the AMCA program that included a few Line Replaceable Units (LRU).

NGTD-1 rollout has been planned for 2024 with the first flight planned in 2025, same year NGTD-2 also has been planned with plans to complete Phase-I developmental trials by 2027 after which 5 Prototype rollouts are planned. AMCA Mk1 will enter production in 2031 with AMCA Mk2 entering production in 2035.

The estimated cost of just developing the AMCA is pegged at Rs 15,000 crore which has been sent for approval to the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). IAF will be procuring 40 AMCA Mk1 and 100 AMCA Mk2 between 2030-40 with likely more orders at later stages.
