Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), India’s premier aerospace and defence company, has successfully completed the Nasik production line for the much-anticipated LCA Tejas Mk1A fighter jet. The first aircraft rollout from this facility is scheduled for March 2025 .

The third production line for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) was inaugurated in 2023 by Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane at HAL’s Nashik facility. This move aimed to accelerate the production of LCA Tejas Mk1A jets, a more advanced variant of the original LCA Tejas.

Saket Chaturvedi, CEO (MiG Complex) of HAL, has overseen the transition of the Nashik facility into a dedicated production line for the LCA Tejas Mk1A. This shift is expected to significantly boost the production capacity of these indigenously developed fighter jets, enhancing India’s air force capabilities.

The LCA Tejas Mk1A incorporates several advanced features and upgrades over its predecessor, including enhanced avionics, improved weapons systems, and increased payload capacity. These advancements will significantly enhance the aircraft’s combat capabilities and operational effectiveness.

The successful completion of the Nasik production line and the impending rollout of the first LCA Tejas Mk1A jet mark a significant milestone for India’s indigenous defence manufacturing sector. It underscores the nation’s commitment to self-reliance in defence technology and strengthens its position as a global aerospace and defence player.
