In response to recent security threats from Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the founder of the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), security measures at Ahmedabad, Amritsar, and Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi have been intensified. The Ministry of Home Affairs convened a meeting with the multi-agency centre (MAC), a common counter-terrorism grid, to address the concerns raised by Pannun.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, designated as an ‘individual terrorist,’ released a video urging Sikhs to avoid flying on Air India aircraft after November 19, citing potential threats to their lives. This development prompted authorities to reassess and bolster security arrangements at key airports.
The intelligence agencies have received multiple threats, particularly concerning the ICC Cricket World Cup final scheduled for November 19 in Ahmedabad.
