Dynamatic Technologies Limited recently welcomed Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, to its Dynamatic Aerotropolis in Bengaluru. The visit underscored the company’s commitment to supporting India’s aviation sector and offered a platform to discuss the National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) proposed RTA-90 program. Udayant Malhoutra, CEO and Managing Director of Dynamatic Technologies Limited, expressed strong support for the RTA-90, a proposed regional transport aircraft aimed at bolstering India’s self-reliance in aviation.

Dynamatic Aerotropolis, a sprawling facility located in the aerospace hub of Bengaluru, was the center of the minister’s visit. During the tour, Minister Kinjarapu witnessed firsthand the advanced manufacturing capabilities that Dynamatic Technologies has built over the years. The Aerotropolis, designed to cater to both military and civilian aerospace manufacturing needs, stands as one of India’s leading facilities for precision engineering and high-value aerostructures, supplying components for global giants like Airbus and Boeing.

The visit included discussions on leveraging India’s industrial ecosystem to support emerging aerospace programs, with Dynamatic Technologies keen to align its infrastructure with the anticipated needs of India’s indigenous aircraft initiatives, such as the RTA-90.

The RTA-90 (Regional Transport Aircraft-90) program, envisioned by NAL, aims to develop a 90-seater twin-turboprop aircraft that can support India’s burgeoning regional connectivity demands. The aircraft, designed to operate on short airstrips and in challenging environments, is expected to bridge connectivity gaps across the nation, especially in under-served areas. For a country with a rapidly expanding aviation sector, the RTA-90 could provide an indigenously-built solution for regional airlines while reducing dependence on imported aircraft.

Udayant Malhoutra expressed Dynamatic Technologies’ strong backing of the RTA-90 project, highlighting its potential to transform India’s civil aviation landscape and to generate opportunities for local aerospace manufacturing.

As India’s civil aviation industry looks to expand its regional footprint, the collaboration between industry and government remains crucial. Malhoutra’s support for the RTA-90 reflects Dynamatic’s alignment with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative, emphasizing the importance of indigenous production across sectors, particularly aerospace.

The discussions also centered on creating a robust supply chain ecosystem for the RTA-90, where Dynamatic Technologies could play a key role as a major supplier and integrator of critical components. Leveraging Dynamatic’s expertise, the program would benefit from both cost and operational efficiencies, thereby making the RTA-90 a more competitive option in the regional aviation market.

For Dynamatic Technologies, support of the RTA-90 also aligns with its strategic goal of expanding its footprint in the civil aviation sector. The company has historically focused on defense and aerospace, but with the civil aviation sector growing at an unprecedented rate, Dynamatic sees a strategic opportunity to contribute to this emerging market.
