The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has recently unveiled a groundbreaking development in the form of a special kit designed for remote-controlled driving, catering specifically to the unique challenges faced by the Armed Forces. This cutting-edge kit boasts a remarkable feature – its adaptability, allowing seamless installation in any car, thereby transforming it into a fully automatic and unmanned vehicle.

The installation process revolutionizes the conventional controls of a car, including steering, clutch, accelerator, and brakes, rendering them entirely automatic and under the control of a remote sensor. Providing insights into this remarkable development, Manish Sahu, a Scientist from the Vehicle Research Department of DRDO in Ahmednagar, explained, “The kit has been meticulously developed at the Vehicle Research Development Laboratory in Ahmednagar, marking it as a pioneering innovation in India. We have already applied for a patent, and we eagerly await its approval.”

At the heart of this revolutionary robotic car kit are hundreds of microcontrollers that empower its functionality. A sophisticated 360-degree camera is integrated into the system, diligently monitoring the car’s brakes, accelerator, and speed, and offering real-time data for effective remote control. This innovative technology represents a significant leap forward in military vehicle capabilities and showcases DRDO’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technological advancements for defense purposes.
