Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Tuesday that debt restructuring talks with India and China had been successful, and he asked members of the opposition in parliament to join him in providing relief to the people. He stated that the government is working to alleviate people’s suffering and that he will take steps to allocate Rs 30-40 billion for medicines in 2023.

Wickremesinghe told ColomboPage, a local news website, that the talks with India and China are part of the government’s effort to get the country’s economy back on track.

“We will not receive the income we anticipate all at once. We hope to put everything together and complete this work. One of our primary responsibilities is to pay salaries. The second issue is the payment of pensions “ColomboPage quoted him as saying.
