In the ongoing investigation into a terror-funding case, the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Mohali is scanning the mobile phone records and friend circle of Panjab University student Harshveer Singh Bajwa, 26, of Sangrur.

Bajwa, an MA (third semester) student at the Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, was arrested by the Punjab Police SSOC for alleged ISI connections and involvement in terror funding. In the meantime, he is being held on a three-day police remand in the case.

The police are reportedly investigating his role in funding one of the killers of Pardeep Singh, a Dera Sacha Sauda follower from Sirsa, on November 10 in Kotkapura. Six assailants shot Pardeep as he was opening his shop. According to media reports, Bajwa transferred Rs 20,000 to the bank account of one of the shooters involved in the murder.
