A worrying trend has emerged along the India-Pakistan border, where smugglers are exploiting Pakistani SIM cards to evade detection and coordinate illegal activities within Indian territory. These cards, easily flung across the border and retrieved later, allow smugglers to communicate freely without fear of interception by Indian authorities.

Unlike drones, which face detection and interception efforts, these tiny SIM cards slip through the cracks. Coupled with strategically placed Pakistani towers near the border, smugglers gain a crucial communication advantage. “Pakistani signals sometimes reach two kilometers inside India,” reveals a BSF source, highlighting the vast area vulnerable to exploitation.

Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu on Monday said the first group of Indian military personnel will be sent back from the island nation before March 10, while the remaining Indians manning two aviation platforms will be withdrawn by May 10.

In his maiden address to Parliament, Muizzu, widely seen as a pro-China leader, said he believes a large majority of Maldivians support his administration with the expectation that they will remove foreign military presence from the country, and recover the lost oceanic territory.

After fresh spell of snowfall was received in Jammu and Kashmir, Border Security Force (BSF) Inspector General Ashok Yadav on Sunday said that security forces will remain alert along Line of Control (LoC) and adequate arrangements are being made for the security personnel so that they can comfortably carry out their duties on the borders in this season.

BSF IG said that there are inputs about infiltration along Line of Control (LoC) however due to snowfall, its probabilty gets reduced.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said crimes and criminals do not respect geographical borders and hence, law enforcement agencies should not consider borders as a hindrance and should rather consider those as meeting points for solving crimes. Addressing the Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA) — Commonwealth Attorneys and Solicitors General Conference (CASGC) here, Mr Shah also said when the three recently-enacted criminal justice laws are implemented in the country, one can get justice up to the level of high court within three years of the registration of an FIR.

He said the conference is taking place at a time when geographical borders have become irrelevant when it comes to commerce and crime.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has busted a cross-border smuggling network of arms, ammunition and explosives and arrested a key accused from Mizoram, an official said on Saturday. Lalngaihawma, a resident of Mamit area of Mizoram, was nabbed from Aizwal following inputs regarding the operations of a well-organised, large-scale illegal arms and ammunition supply network operating in certain north-eastern states of the country, a spokesperson of the federal agency said.

The arrest was made as part of investigation into a case registered by NIA on December 26 last year under various sections of Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Substances Act and Arms Act, the official said.
