In a significant stride towards bolstering India’s indigenous defense manufacturing capabilities, the BrahMos Aerospace Plant is gearing up to commence operations in Uttar Pradesh (UP). Located in the strategic Bhatgawa village of Sarojini Nagar, within the Lucknow Defence Node, this new facility promises to be a game-changer in missile production.

The plant is specifically designed for the production of the BrahMos-NG (Next Generation) variant, a smaller, lighter, and more advanced version of the renowned BrahMos missile. With an anticipated production rate of 80 to 100 missiles annually, this facility will play a pivotal role in enhancing the Indian armed forces’ tactical flexibility and response capabilities.

This missile variant is designed to be launched from a wider array of platforms, including submarines, ships, aircraft, or from land. Its reduced size and weight make it an ideal choice for next-generation military applications, ensuring compatibility with modern, smaller platforms while maintaining the supersonic speed and accuracy of its predecessor.

Positioned in the heart of UP, the Lucknow Defence Node is part of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. The choice of location underscores the state’s ambition to become a hub for defense manufacturing, leveraging its strategic geographical position and infrastructure.

The selection of Bhatgawa village in Sarojini Nagar for this high-tech facility also aims at fostering socio-economic development in the region, potentially leading to job creation and skill development in advanced manufacturing technologies.
