A Bangladeshi farmer was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel along the Patgram border area on Friday, according to Bangladeshi officials.

The deceased, identified as 30-year-old Abul Kalam Dakhu, hailed from the Srirampur union of Patgram upazila. Reports indicate he was shot near the border and succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the Patgram Upazila Health Complex.

Local authorities in Patgram confirmed that Dakhu sustained a gunshot wound to his left chest. Police officials stated that Dakhu was a farmer and is survived by his wife.

This incident marks the third killing of a Bangladeshi citizen by the BSF along the Lalmonirhat border within a month. Bangladeshi authorities report that a group of Bangladeshis, including Dakhu, were near the border in the early morning hours when they were fired upon by a BSF patrol team.

The Bangladeshi account does not specify the reason the BSF opened fire. Further investigation is required to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
