New government defense company Advance Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) has successfully proof fired 155×52 cal ordnance at CPE Itarsi, proving its capabilities to manufacture 52 caliber artillery firepower. Dhanush 155×52 mm gun seen in the picture was mounted on a howitzer carriage that seems to have been borrowed from the ATAGS program.

Formed out of the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board’s Gun Carriage Factory (GCF), which is based in Jabalpur, the AWEIL recently bagged orders from a European firm for major subassemblies of artillery guns.

Dhanush 155×45 mm gun has been cleared to resume production after it cleared user trials after it faced some teething issues in the first batch of 18 guns that were supplied to the Indian Army.
