Apollo Micro Systems Ltd has secured a significant order worth Rs. 10.90 crores from Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for the development and supply of a Software Defined Universal Homing System for Heavy Weight Torpedoes. This innovative technology, developed in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), represents a major breakthrough in underwater warfare capabilities.
The Software Defined Universal Homing System is designed to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of heavy weight torpedoes, ensuring their ability to engage targets with precision. This technology is a crucial component of India’s efforts to modernize its naval forces and strengthen its defense capabilities.
The Ministry of Defence’s inclusion of heavy weight torpedoes in the Embargo List underscores the importance of indigenously developed systems for the Indian Armed Forces. By relying on domestic technologies, India can reduce its dependence on foreign suppliers and ensure the security of its critical defense assets.
As Apollo Micro Systems executes this order, it will contribute to the development of a more self-reliant and technologically advanced Indian defense industry. The successful implementation of the Software Defined Universal Homing System will not only enhance the capabilities of India’s naval forces but also pave the way for future technological advancements in underwater warfare.
