At the upcoming Aero India 2025, attendees will get an exclusive look at the advanced cockpit of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk2, showcasing cutting-edge features designed to enhance pilot effectiveness and combat readiness. The LCA Mk2, an evolution of India’s indigenous Tejas fighter jet, will feature a large area display, a side stick for control, and a wide-angle Head-Up Display (HUD) among other state-of-the-art technologies.

The cockpit of the LCA Mk2 is a significant upgrade from its predecessors, aiming to provide pilots with unparalleled situational awareness and control. The large area display integrates multiple functions into one interface, reducing the pilot’s workload and allowing for quicker decision-making by presenting critical flight and mission data in a more intuitive format. This feature, along with the side stick, which replaces the traditional central stick, offers improved ergonomics and space utilization within the cockpit, crucial for long-duration missions.

The wide-angle HUD is another highlight, projected directly into the pilot’s line of sight, ensuring that essential information like altitude, speed, and weapon status is always in view, reducing the need to look down at instruments during critical phases of flight or combat. This HUD will support night vision goggle compatibility, further extending the aircraft’s operational envelope.

“The unveiling of the LCA Mk2 cockpit at Aero India 2025 will not only demonstrate our advancements in aerospace technology but also our commitment to equipping our air force with aircraft that match global standards,” said a spokesperson from HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited), which is leading the production of the LCA Mk2 alongside the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).

Aero India 2025, set to be held from February 10 to February 14 at the Air Force Station Yelahanka in Bengaluru, is one of the world’s premier air shows, offering a platform for showcasing military and civilian aircraft innovations. The LCA Mk2’s cockpit, with its advanced features, is expected to attract significant attention from aviation enthusiasts, industry professionals, and potential international partners.
