The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful flight-testing of the RudraM-II air-to-surface missile from an Indian Air Force Su-30 MK-I aircraft off the coast of Odisha. This indigenously developed missile system is designed to neutralize various enemy assets, including surface-to-air missile (SAM) sites, radars, and air defense systems.

A number of advanced technologies developed by DRDO laboratories have been incorporated into the RudraM-II missile, showcasing India’s growing self-reliance in defense manufacturing. The missile’s capabilities and performance during the flight test have been lauded by defense experts and officials.

In a recent development, Adani Defence appears to have been appointed as the Development cum Production Partner (DcPP) for the RudraM-II program. This information is evident from company documents, indicating that Adani Defence will play a crucial role in the development, production, and deployment of the missile system.

This appointment aligns with Adani Defence’s growing involvement in India’s defense sector. The company has already been designated as the DcPP for the RudraM-I Anti-radiation missiles, demonstrating its capabilities in the field of missile technology.

The partnership between DRDO and Adani Defence is expected to accelerate the development and production of the RudraM-II missile system, enhancing India’s defense capabilities and reducing its reliance on foreign imports. This collaboration also underscores the government’s commitment to promoting indigenous defense manufacturing and fostering self-sufficiency in critical defense technologies.
