India-Today has got access to video footage of ill-fated Mi-17 helicopter of the Air Force just before it crashed while dropping off kerosene jerry cans at an Army camp in Yangste, Arunachal Pradesh.
In the video, you can see one jerrycan detached from the parachute and hit the tail rotor and helicopter after losing its tail rotor , immediately lost control and crashed soon after killing five IAF crew members and two from the Army.
Inquiries have revealed that parachutes fastened to kerosene oil jerrycans weren’t “lashed properly”, leading to the death of seven soldiers. kerosene oil jerrycans have been dropped from a Helicopter is not Standard Operating Procedures and clearly, negligence killed seven soldiers that day.
