Headquartered in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Caracal International LLC is showcasing in ongoing Defexpo 2018, its CAR 817AR 7.62 NATO / .308Win center-fire, gas operated, rotating bolt system assault rifle which will be offered to Indian Army for trials soon said company official.

CAR 817AR which weighs less than 4kgs and has an effective range of 800 meters is first assault rifle being offered to India from an Arab Country.

Indian Armed forces have requirment of 7,40,000 Assault Rifles which has been approved under the ‘Buy and Make (Indian)’ category at an estimated cost of Rs 12,280 crore ($1.9 billion).

Caracal International has confirmed that it will tie up with local Indian vendor if it wins an order from Indian Army and already has held talks with Kapur based MKU Limited for Make in India CAR 817AR Assault Rifles.

According to Caracal International CAR 817AR is a center-fire, gas operated, rotating bolt system assault rifle, chambered in 7.62 NATO / .308Win. The CAR 817AR is an assault rifle designed for the high-end use of law enforcement and military applications.

The weapon is available in semi-automatic and select fire configurations. The operating system is a short stroke pushrod gas piston system. The gas systems are controlled by an adjustable gas valve with two positions.

Position one is for normal operation.
Position two is for normal operation with a sound suppressor affixed and allows cycling of the action.

The weapon is available in various barrel lengths 12.5”, 14.5″ and 16” Carbine Rifle.

817AR operates on the new short stroke piston system with two settings.
Single or 2-tone Cerakote color finish available.
Semi-automatic only and select fire models.
Multiple barrel lengths 12.5”, 14.5″ and 16”.
Upper and lower tension device.
