Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa on Thursday said that Procurement of Single-engined fighters for Indian Airforce is a priority to achieve to reach our authorized strength (fighters) by 2032.

Dhanoa also added that Request for Information (RFI) for Procurement of Single-engined fighters will be issued very soon for which Lockheed Martin F-16 Block 70 in partnership with Tata Group.and Saab has offered Gripen E in partnership with Adani Group are likely to respond.

when asked about twin-engined fighter jet requirement, Dhanoa said that requirement for twin-engine fighters will be required down the line in future but also hinted at the possibility of lower orders for the twin-engined fighter jets and said that engine cost alone in twin-engined fighters makeup “30% of cost” of a twin, vs 10% of a single-engined fighter jets.
