Biennial land and naval and homeland security exhibition which is also known as Defexpo might again see a new venue with new Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman now in place. Nirmala Sitharaman is keen on taking Defexpo to Tamil Nadu and event might be held in Chennai in the month of April according to buzz in the media.
Defexpo India was regularly held at the Pragati Maidan trade fair ground in Delhi till 2014 but Defexpo India 2016 was shifted to Betul Village located in Goa after then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar took in charge of the Ministry of Defence.
Now in Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar had confirmed to media that Goa is again ready to host Defexpo 2018 and was exploring the possibility of a joint venture with the defence ministry to make Goa permanent venue after it was moved from Pragati Maidan due to space constraints for live demonstrations.
While at the time of preparation of this report, the website of defexpoindia.in which handles sale of Business, Exhibitors and Regular Vistors Tickets to the event and also handles Stalls allocation for exhibitors was not accessible.
Again having such prestigious event at height of Indian summer where temperatures are bound to hit 35°C in makeshift exhibition areas surely will lead to inconvenience to both visitors and exhibitors. idrw.org reporter who had attended Defexpo India 2016 held in the much cooler month of February in Goa saw shoddy Exhibition areas with poor ventilation which caused inconvenience to several International Arms Exhibitors.
