Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal B.S Dhanoa while addressing the annual press conference ahead of the October 8 air force day said that IAF is waiting for acceptance of necessity following which Request for proposal (RFP) will be issued for a 114 fighter aircraft deal which is also called as MMRCA 2.0 in the media.

Speaking further he said that the current tender will not take as much time as the previous MMRCA, as IAF plans to test only those systems which were not part of the aircraft that were put into trials previously.

while contenders of the MMRCA Tender are back again with the same aircraft for the MMRCA 2.0, Interestingly the only aircraft which could require full-fledged evaluation will be Sukhoi-Su35 which for the first time was allowed to participate in the tender process after it was deliberately kept out of the previous tender.

Russian offer of MiG-35 until now was seen as a weak contender till Sukhoi-Su35 was officially confirmed.
