Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) designed and developed Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) will be heading for high altitude trials from next month onward as per the latest media reports. High altitude trials will also include cold weather trials to be carried out in Leh and also critical flight trials like hover performance and low-speed handling characteristics of the helicopter under extreme weather conditions at different altitudes.
Earlier in Mid of this year, LUH carried out hot weather tests where the Chopper was parked on the tarmac, exposed it to the Sun to monitor its high-tech computers on board, has its own cooling system.
In hot weather conditions, LUH was also flight tested in the extreme conditions and its thermal cooling system, engine and other things that are critical to the helicopter were monitored.
LUH has been developed to replace aging Chetaks and Cheetahs Light Multi-Utility Helicopters from the Indian Armed Force Fleet.
