Kalyani Group developed 120 kg thrust Small Jet engine for unmanned aerial vehicles is all set to be fired up for the first time in next few weeks according to latest media reports.

Developed by Kalyani Jet Propulsion lab in Bangalore which presently has 15-20 engineers working under guidance from retired GTRE and HAL officials have completed development of the first engine from that lab which was also assisted by Kalyani’s Pune-based laboratories.

Chairman and managing director of Bharat Forge Baba Kalyani last year while speaking to media had said that Kalyani Group is making its foray in building jet engines for usage on unmanned aerial vehicles. Kalyani Group is already planning to develop next 350-kgf thrust class engine which can be used to power medium-size unmanned aerial vehicles.

Kalyani’s Pune-based laboratories have also started working on a new range of indigenously developed 900kW to 1200kW turboshaft engines for usage on Helicopters.
Kalyani Group has said that they are committed to slowly taking up larger projects in the future and built on local and international expertise in next 7 to 15 years to emerge has a major player in the jet engine industries.
