Terrorist outfit People’s Anti-Fascist Front has claimed responsibility for the assassination of BJP leader Rakesh Pandita. The attack on the Municipal Councillor, a resident of Tral Bala, took place when he was not accompanied by his two Personal Security Officers (PSOs).

Three unidentified terrorists fired upon him late in the evening on Wednesday when Pandita was visiting his friend at Tral Payeen. “No protectee should go anywhere without PSOs. Visits are allowed only after ground assessment of local threat is done. We request all protectees not to violate SOPs and risk their lives unnecessarily,” said IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.

‘Kashmir needs a security revival’

The area was cordoned by the police and security forces after the murder and a massive search operation has been launched to nab the terrorists.

Condemning the killing of Rakesh Pandita, Altaf Thakur, BJP Jammu and Kashmir spokesperson called the attack barbaric saying it will not stop the saffron party and its leaders from serving the people.

Attacking unarmed people is no bravery and police must track down the culprits and punish them, he added.

Talking to Times Now, Pradeep Dutta, a friend of the BJP leader said that Kashmir needs a security revival.

“Rakesh Pandita is the sole breadwinner of his family. L-G Manoj Sinha should provide an economic guarantee to this family. Token condolence has become a tradition in J&K,” he said.

Won’t allow Israeli-type settler colonies in Kashmir: PAFF in December 2020

Indian security establishment had earlier said that PAFF could be a shadow of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

PAFF has been tasked to project terror elements within Jammu & Kashmir as non-Islamic, liberal and indigenous rebels in a bid to ramp up support from the international community by showing that the terror movement in the UT is indigenous.

Last year in December, PAFF in its video had threatened to execute RSS agents planning to settle down in Jammu and Kashmir in the guise of civilians.

The terror outfit said it won’t allow Israeli-type settler colonies in Kashmir adding that Indians who want to settle in those colonies will become its legitimate target.
