Scientists of Indian origin at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have evinced interest in moving to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) after the Chandrayaan – 1 success, Mylswamy Annadurai, Project Director, Chandrayaan 1 & 2, said here.

A military transport helicopter went down on the border between Khyber and Orakzai tribal region on Friday afternoon, killing all the twenty-six security personnel on board, a government official said.

Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman was the chief guest at the project-launching ceremony. Start of final assembly and the FTS today would, Insha Allah, lead us to the much-awaited roll out of the first JF-17 from the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra, in October timeframe this year.

President Medvedev in his visit to the yard yesterday expressed major dissatisfaction with Sevmash’ handling of the aircraft carrier. According to a Russian-Indian agreement from 2004, the upgraded vessel was to be sold to the Indian Navy for 617 million USD, Rossiiskaya Gazeta reports. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev today said that modernisation of the Admiral Gorshkov aircraft carrier should be completed as soon as possible so that it can be delivered to India in 2012, as the project had become the sole irritant in Russian-Indian relations.

The Navy’s top officer said Tuesday he opposes the continued development of an alternative engine for the new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jet, a program at the center of a veto clash between the White House and Congress.

The U.S. has released a $45.3 million sale of 171 Stinger air-to-air missiles to Taiwan. Raytheon’s Missile Systems won the contract under the Foreign Military Sales program.

Bhutanese Prime Minister Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y. Thinley Monday categorically ruled out the existence of any anti- India insurgent group in his country ever since the Royal Bhutan Army conducted a successful operation in 2003 to flush out ultras from within its territory.
‘There are no such elements or individuals in Bhutan. We have flushed them out.
