HAL’s Indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopter has been developed for cater to combat needs of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Indian Army is all set to go into limited serial production soon but according to reliable Industrial sources close to idrw.org many regional countries in the region have also shown keen interest in acquiring HAL’s LCH at sidelines of Aero India 2017 .
5.5-tonne combat helicopter designed and developed by HAL already has begged orders for 114 from Indian Army and 65 from Indian Airforce.
While idrw.org cannot confirm from its sources which countries have approached state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited but media buzz is around Srilanka and Myanmar. In past Indian media reports had said India is in talks with “certain” countries in Africa for possible export of the LCH.
Light Combat Helicopter is designed for anti-tank and anti-infantry roles and is only Combat helicopter in the world which is also capable of high-altitude warfare since its operational ceiling will be 16,000 to 18,000 feet.
Light Combat Helicopter is currently going for final rounds of weapons trials and final weaponized configuration is been finalised with Indian Army and Indian Air force. idrw.org has been confirmed that many prospective clients are looking for Basic weaponized configurated LCH armed with 70 mm rockets,20 mm M621 cannon and Gravity bombs and are not so keen on acquiring additional weapons capabilities like air-to-air missiles and anti-tank missiles.
