My Take

Earlier this year Pakistan confirmed first successful test of the submarine-launched Babur missile. dubbed Babur-3, Pakistani have been very vocal that Sub-Sonic Babur-3 is a Nuclear capable Cruise missile which can carry a tactical nuclear bomb up to 450 km towards its target and it completes Pakistan’s nuclear triad.

Pakistan also has developed Air-launched cruise missile (ALCM) Raad which can also carry a nuclear warhead up to 350km and recently Pakistan also confirmed the development of Raad-II which has improved range of 550km. Pakistani Military has made it clear that to complete its Nuclear triad their go-to weapons will be Subsonic cruise missiles which pose real threats to targets even in India, which bring out a new level of threats since they are harder to detect. Recent crash of Indian Air Force ALH Druv Helicopter in Arunachal Pradesh while aiding local administration at the time of Arunachal Floods some time fails to gauge the risk a Helicopter crew takes while flying in toughest terrain in our eastern sector where bad weather is 365-day affair and dense jungle and high altitudes test best of the skills of the Man-Machine combination when flying in this extreme conditions .

Not only Helicopters are a lifeline but also sometimes only means of transportation to reach the eastern side of the India which still has poor road mobility and if the need arises for emergency Military Redeployment or when pressed into service in case of civil disaster, Helicopter is frontline assets which will be deployed on this side of India . While India remains Top importer of weapons in the world and No Arms and Defence equipment manufacturer, Small or big can afford to stay away from any Tender or Request for Information issued by Indian Military for their requirement which always provides opportunity for established players to continue their domination in Indian defence sector and new players opportunity to enter in lucrative Indian Defence market .

But emerging trend for last few years has been that Defence equipment manufacturers are becoming not so hastened to respond to tenders issued by Indian Army in particular due to technical parameters requested by Indian Army not only falls short on their developed equipment but technically is also not possible, resulting in trials where equipment in question is falling short by a mile to meet technical parameters issued by Indian Army . What is Happening

 Where is it

Since the past few weeks a lot is being said about the Doklam plateau standoff between India and China. So why is the plateau so important to India when it is actually a territory controlled, administered by Bhutan. Many things are being said about the standoff with most placing the area right at end of funnel (above pic) when in reality Doklam plateau is on the right , a little above in the hump.

 Why China wants it

China wants to control Doklam plateau as controlling the flat area will allow its long range rocket artillery units to move around swiftly and counter the imposing presence & complete dominance of Indian Army in west and south and Bhutan in east. It will also allow China PLA to target the Siliguri corridor, a scary proposition for India as that will potentially cut off the entire North East India from Rest of India. Continue reading

China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) for past few years has been carrying out high altitude trails of a mystery tank which was described as a new light tank, last year in an arms exhibition for the first time Beijing officially acknowledged and showcased Xinqingtan light tank to the world.

The 35-tonne Xinqingtan tank which comes with a 105mm main gun and a 12.7-millimeter machine gun. Amid a crowd of media articles penned down by paid journalist with a vested interest, lack of limelight given to India’s local development of LCA-Tejas Mk II which was supposed to replace a large bulk of Mig series of fighter aircraft in India is missing and this is not a good for the project since many vested individuals do want  Mk II scraped to promote single engine import fighter jets like F-16 and Gripen E .

DRDO already has lost the support of Indian Navy on the development of carrier-based LCA-Navy  Mk II and Navy is now more interested in the development of Naval AMCA 5th generation fighter aircraft and has vocally opposed any need for LCA-Navy MK1 in its current avatar or its proposed LCA-Navy  Mk II variant. Lot has been written and said in Indian media on how the delivery of Armed Heron TP Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) from Israel will bring in a considerable jump in a long overdue capability for Indian air force which has been Long overdue.

Armed drones have been hogging limelight from Syria to Afghanistan and have been used in many operations where key leaders of Al Qaeda and Taliban have been killed. For many Armed drones is like deploying special forces units behind the enemy lines with much lesser risks and without the need to of intervention from manned fighter jets but in Indian context armed drones especially like Heron TP are of limited utility. Former chairman of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) R K Tyagi, speaking at Make in India Awards 2017 said that recent deal between Tata Advanced Systems and Lockheed Martin to manufacture F-16 fighter jets in India if it wins a contract from Indian government then it should also have Transfer of Intellectual property rights not just Transfer of technology and Country should look for then what India received from Russia for India’s front line Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jet.

Tyagi said that F-16 deal with Private Indian defence partner should be not limited to just Transfer of technology but also should involve mastering of technology along with Intellectual property rights which will allow modification or enchantment of technology without OEM Permission in future. India’s state-owned Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight-tested the indigenously designed Unnamed Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM) for the second time within a month, clearly indicating speedy developmental trial of the missile been implemented which was developed in fast track mode.

DRDO-designed QR-SAM missile uses solid fuel propellant and has a stated range of strike range of 25-30 km. Truck-mounted canister makes the missile system increase the mobility of the missile system ten fold over Akash Air Defence System and there are also many other factors which hint that QR-SAM missile will be game changer missile system for Indian Armed forces and will be bigger Success then Akash Air Defence System. It, not a hidden fact that China has been arming and abetting Pakistan’s Proxy War against India for nearly three decades now which as per China’s Military Hybrid War Strategic is to weaken India without firing a single bullet from its side and still be able to sustain its territorial ambition or land grab in the region with impunity without facing no resistance .

China has provided Pakistan with Nuclear technology, missile system and pretty soon second-strike nuclear capabilities with recent submarine deal with Pakistan. China has been systematically investing in Pakistani Military arsenal for more than Five decades now for a reason to use Pakistani Military against India so that its military goes unchallenged in the region and clear its path to raise as Global power without firing a shot. China is one of among the few developed nations with massive armed force that shows off an ugly face to its neighbours. With trillions-dollar economy & Wholesome foreign reserve, China has made tremendous efforts to bolster & modernise it’s military in 21st century to counter US & western allies in Indo-pacific region. There are no matter concerns to china when it comes to expansionist mindset. During cold era, being an alley of US, China took the advantage of US blind game against Russia which not only helped her to draw investment from US but also strengthened its position in Asia.

China may have betrayed US, but it’s aim to stand up as a threat to US interest is somehow fulfilled. The Asian Dragon now-a-days is showing awkward attitude over Dokalam Pass Standoff threatening India with her military strength. In fact, starting from all Chinese news agencies to New paper like Global times which is a stooge of communist party of china adding fuel to this game with the war of words. Many of us get scared off to see China’s 2.3 million active military & 8 lakh in reserve with a view that it may inflict heavy losses to its rivals. Continue reading
