Astra Microwave Products Limited (AMPL) has secured a significant order from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the supply of a Precision Approach Radar (PAR) system. The contract value stands at ?56 crore and includes a comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) spanning 10 years.

This acquisition by HAL bolsters India’s air traffic management infrastructure with a state-of-the-art PAR system. The radar plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient landing of aircraft during adverse weather conditions or low visibility.

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has achieved a turnover of around Rs. 19700 Cr (Provisional & Unaudited), during the Financial Year 2023-24, against the previous year’s turnover of Rs. 17,333 Cr registering a growth of 13.65%.

In the fiscal year 2023-24, BEL successfully secured orders worth around Rs. 35000 Cr. Among the notable defence orders obtained during the year were Electronic Fuzes, EW Systems, Communication Systems for naval warships, Fire Control Systems, Akash Prime Weapon System, Radars, Sonars, Software Defined Radios, Night Vision Devices, Tactical Communication Systems and other projects in Non-defence sector.

The Ministry of External Affairs today firmly rejected attempts by China to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh and asserted that assigning “invented names” will not alter the reality that the state “is, has been, and will always be” an integral and inalienable part of India.

The statement was issued by the MEA in response to media queries in the wake of China releasing a fourth list of 30 new names of various places in Arunachal Pradesh amid Beijing’s stepped-up assertions in recent weeks to re-emphasise its claim over the Indian state.

As India continuously accused Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism across its borders, Pakistan Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif has expressed hopes for betterment in bilateral ties with India after the country comes out of its election phase poised to be held from April 19 and ending in June, Geo News reported.
The relations between Pakistan and India have been depleting for the past many years owing to Pakistan sponsoring terrorism, allegedly providing shelters to India’s declared terrorists and its illegal occupation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Most recently, India abstained from the adoption of a resolution on ‘Measures to Combat Islamophobia’ introduced by the Pakistan envoy at the UNGA.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru committed a blunder by implementing Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who abrogated Article 370 and raised the Indian flag in Union Territory.

Addressing the public rally in Jodhpur, Amit Shah said, “PM Modi has fulfilled all the promises that we made since the foundation of the BJP. Former PM Jawaharlal Nehru committed a blunder by implementing Article 370 in Kashmir. PM Modi put an end to Article 370 on August 5, 2019, and raised the Indian flag in Kashmir.”

Iran and one of its key proxies vowed Tuesday to respond to a strike widely attributed to Israel that demolished Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus and killed eight people, including two Iranian generals.

Iran’s state TV reported Tuesday that the country’s Supreme National Security Council, a key decision-making body, met late Monday and decided on a “required” response to the strike. The report said the meeting was chaired by President Ebrahim Raisi, but provided no further details.

The Indian government has taken up on priority the issue of ban on imports of Russian-origin unpolished diamonds by the European Union (EU) and G7 nations as the measure will end up hurting the domestic diamond polishing industry mainly centred in Gujarat’s Surat city, said External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday.

The initial stage of an EU and G7 ban on imports of Russia-origin diamonds via third countries came into effect in early March, a step taken as part of sanctions on Moscow in response to its invasion of Ukraine.

Indian Coast Guard’s Pollution Control Vessel (PCV) Samudra Paheredar with an integral helicopter arrived at the Ho Chi Minh port of Vietnam on Tuesday as part of its ongoing overseas deployment to ASEAN countries, the Indian Coast Guard said in a statement.

The visit of ICG specialized vessel to ASEAN countries is in pursuance of India ASEAN Initiative for Marine Pollution, as announced by Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh in the year 2022 at Cambodia during ASEAN Defence Minister Plus Meeting.

In a major anti-insurgency operation, eight Maoists were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh today, the police said. Bijapur district comes under the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency, which will go to polls in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 19.

The gunfight took place at around 6 am in a forest near Lendra village under Gangaloor police station area, when a joint team of security personnel was out on an anti-Maoist operation, Inspector General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj P told PTI.
